Affordable

Located in North Wangaratta, the 38 MWdc Wangaratta solar farm designed and built by CleanPeak Energy has been operating since the end of 2025. This utility scale in-front-of-the-meter solar asset comprises approximately 71,000 solar panels, fully automated to track the daily east-west movement of the sun , optimising renewable generation capability.

The Wangaratta Solar Farm is connected to the surrounding distribution network, capable of supplying approximately 72,000 MWh of clean energy annually to the nearby Glenrowan substation. That’s enough clean energy to avoid close to 60,000 tonnes of CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere every year.

The project is also set to include a 33 MWh battery energy storage system which will further enhance grid stability and support the integration of the renewable energy source.

Benefits

Site team gathering highlights local jobs and community benefits at Wangaratta Solar Farm

For Wangaratta

CleanPeak works with local subcontractors and suppliers wherever possible, and have set up a Community Benefits Fund to support local projects, events, and initiatives in Wangaratta across the life of the solar farm.

For the Climate

Once fully operational, the Wangaratta Solar Farm is expected to offset close to 60,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, equivalent to taking more than 12,000 fuel-burning cars off the road.

For the Land

The site has been carefully placed to protect environmental values, minimise native vegetation removal and respect areas of cultural sensitivity, with our Net Positive Biodiversity Action Plan, guiding how the land is enhanced over time.

The Wangaratta Solar Farm is located in North Wangaratta, in north-east Victoria.

The site is well positioned to deliver renewable energy into the electricity network via the Glenrowan substation, while being carefully designed to protect native vegetation and respect areas of cultural sensitivity.

With strong solar exposure across the region, north-east Victoria is well placed to support reliable large-scale solar generation.
