Located in North Wangaratta, the 39 MW Wangaratta solar farm being developed by CleanPeak Energy is set for completion in November 2024. This utility scale in-front-of-the-meter solar asset will comprise of over 71,000 solar panels, fully automated to track the daily east-west movement of the sun, optimising renewable generation capability.
The solar farm layout has been carefully designed to protect the environmental aspects of the site, minimise the removal of native vegetation and avoid areas of cultural sensitivity.
The Wangaratta Solar Farm will be connected to the surrounding distribution network, expected to supply 72,000 MWh of clean energy annually to the nearby Glenrowan substation. That’s enough clean energy to avoid close to 60,000 tonnes of CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere every year.
The project is also set to include a 33 MWh battery energy storage system which will further enhance grid stability and support the integration of the renewable energy source.
